Lottery funded by the West Wight Landscape Partnership, the site aims to document and celebrate 50 years of surfing on the Isle of Wight, providing an online search-able archive of video, photography and stories from the characters involved in the sport. Designed around a simple content management system (CMS) allowing for quick and easy site updates by the project authors.

Working alongside in-house developers, Fire Island took part in a major rebuild of the entire site. Markup and CSS was rewritten for hundreds of CMS templates to achieve more efficiency and to better realise the original design vision.
With this streamlined platform as a starting point, the team went on to produce dozens of special exhibition microsites and implemented a vastly improved JavaScript architecture.
