This is the new homepage for http://www.wight-life.co.uk/ a micro-site i’ve made for SEO purposes dedicated to photos of lifestyle, sport & leisure from the Isle of Wight.

It’s the first site where i’m trying out the new google fonts api. It sounds a bit nerdy and clever, but its not very complicated really, and it finally gets over the limitation of only be able to use the same old boring web fonts that we’ve had for the last 15 years. Here i’m using ‘Cantarell’ for the main header, navigation & body text, and ‘Reenie Beanie’ for the strap-line.

The choice of new typefaces isn’t massive (yet), and i’ve certainly not done anything groundbreaking here, this was just an exercise for me to test it out, and see how it works across all the various browsers and platforms out there. So if you’re seeing something vastly different to this screenshot, perhaps you could let me know?

It also has one of the new Facebook Like buttons in the page, inserted using the javascript method (instead of iframe), and it seems to work all the time on safari, chrome and firefox, and only most of the time on internet explorer. Any feedback on if that works for you would also be gratefully received.
